The 2012 A8 L is a pretty safe vehicle: the base model includes a night vision assistant with pedestrian detection and warning, electronic stabilization control, Audi’s Pre-Sense monitor, which alerts drivers to potential hazards, extensive airbags, etc. But if you’re expecting driving risks beyond fender benders – say, automatic weapons fire, explosions, or gas/chemical weapons attack – the A8 L High Security has you covered. Like the standard A8, the Security is equipped with four-zone climate control, Bose audio, a TV tuner, and two individual rear seats with power adjustments, with optional refrigerator, rear seat entertainment system, a “relaxation seat” with heating, massage, and a power-adjustable footrest. What sets the High Security apart is extensive armoring (hot-formed armored steel, polycarbonate-coated multilayer glass, reinforced side sills, aramide fabric), the emergency exit system (which uses charges to blast open the doors), the fire extinguishing system (which douses the wheels, underbody, fuel tank, and engine in flame retardant foam), and an emergency fresh-air system which uses pressured oxygen to ensure passengers can escape chemical and gas attacks. The car is pure Jason Statham; it goes on sale this year, and should be showing in global organized crime hotspots shortly thereafter. Check out the gallery after the jump.

ALIFE Art Machine
There’s a new vending machine at The Hole, but no snacks available. The Hole, an art space at 104 Greene Street in Soho, is host to the ALIFE Art Machine, which serves as a unique interface between art and guests of the venue. The Hole is no stranger to experimental installations; it’s the brainchild of Kathy Grayson and Meghan Coleman, both former directors at the legendary and now-closed Deitch Projects. ALIFE’s vending machine is a sleek matte white box, and aside from it’s avant garde design, the relation to it’s break room ancestors is clear. Inside are a number of pieces of boxed art and T-shirts, price from $10 to $1200; each is “blind-boxed,” giving purchases extra excitement – the machine is stocked with art from a roster of the most unique and cutting edge artists (Bast, Eric Haze, Goeff McFetridge, Kenny Scharf, Neckface, Romon Yang aka “ROSTARR,” Ryan McGinness, Todd James – and the list goes on and on). The machine is a reminder of ALIFE’s cultural and creative role – something that gets overlooked amid the retail focus. Check out the machine at The Hole, until February 22nd, and more images after the jump.

Dr. Romanelli x A Love Movement – Dr. Love Collection #3
Dr. Romanelli and A Love Movement is proud to present their third installment of the much sought after Dr. Love collection. The collection spawned as a result of their common love for recycling unwanted clothing and both brands are known for giving clothing their second chance to shine. This is a true one of a kind collection and the first batch of vests are ready to be previewed. Each item is painstakingly redesigned and sewn up to the standards of Dr. Romanelli and it is brought to life thanks to the vintage fabrics and patches that are provided by Tetsuzo from A Love Movement. At the back of the vest, there is a message or a theme of the piece and each neck tag indicates the specific key fabric that was used on the vest.
