Uniqlo has announced that Coca-Cola will be the inspiration behind its 8th annual, world-famous UT Grand Prix T-shirt design contest. Using T-shirts as a blank canvas, Uniqlo is asking people around the world to conjure up and create designs inspired by Coca-Cola. Entries will be accepted from Thursday August 4th and judged by a line-up of world-class designers up until the ending of the competition on Monday, September 12th. The winning ten designs will be made and sold at Uniqlo’s stores around the world from spring 2012.The program is called the Uniqlo UT Grand Prix and is now in its 8th year. Coca-Cola has been named as this year’s partner due to its design legacy spanning 125 years, including Warhol’s work around the famous contoured bottle through, through to the iconic Coca-Cola logo itself. There is no reason why you can’t be the winner so make moves! The winning ten t-shirt designs will appear in-store in Spring 2012, including the new New York-based global flagship, opening fall 2011 on 5th Avenue. Judging Process | Designs that pass the first stage of judging by Uniqlo and Coca-Cola will be presented on the campaign website (see URL address below). The design that receives the most popular votes on the campaign website will also be awarded a prize, called the “Most Voted” prize |

Ten winners will be selected in total, with the prizes split out across four categories. The overall Grand Prize winner will receive USD $10,000 (6,600 EUR). They will also receive a special limited edition copy of “Coca-Cola” by Assouline, a beautifully curated book celebrating the brand’s most iconic photographs, advertisements, designs and memories from the worlds of film, fashion, art and social history. Released this year to mark the 125th birthday of Coca-Cola, this collector’s edition is hand-bound with color plates in a linen clamshell and retails for USD $650.00 (450 EUR).
The second category is for the design declared most popular by way of the number of ‘likes’ through the UT Grand Prix website. This winner will receive USD $5,000 (3,300 EUR), as well as the standard, clothbound edition of “Coca-Cola” by Assouline. The third set is the judges’ prizes. There will be five winners in this division, with each receiving USD $3,000 (2,000 EUR), as well as a standard edition of Assouline’s “Coca-Cola”. The fourth and final category awards the remaining three designs out of the original ten winners. They will receive USD $1,000 (600 EUR) each and a standard edition of “Coca-Cola” by Assouline. All ten finalists will get their T-shirt designs made and sold across Uniqlo’s worldwide store network, as well as receive a one-off set of Coca-Cola bottles emblazoning their artwork.
