TAKASHI MURAKAMI PRINTS - “MY FIRST ART PRINTS” SERIES
DRIVING FINE ART TOWARDS THE PUBLIC
Fine Art is often perceived as unaccessible. Contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is keen to merge fine art and popular culture in his work. Perviously shown at the Palace of Versailles, he also collaborates with a variety of commercial labels regularly. Murakami opened Kaikai Kiki Gallery Taipei last year, its first outside homeland Japan.

Its latest offering is Takashi Murakami Prints - ‘My First Art Prints’ Series, in keeping with his idea of making art accessible to the public. Over forty prints dated from Hiropon Factory period (prior to Kaikai Kiki) to recent time, each signed by the artist. These collector’s items are priced at affordable level, no less. Japanese printing has been excelling in recent years, which is also evidential in this show - the outstanding foil printing technique creates the effect of printing on mirror surface. The exhibition is opened now until 20 March 2011.
